SAS122 - Quality Engineer (Part 21G) (6M FTC)

Job Purpose

To ensure that mechanical and electrical components, parts and products and accompanying paperwork being produced by Part 21G meet the quality standards required by the regulator, customer and Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct product inspections of manufactured components and issue Form 1 paperwork according to company procedures;
  • Quality control and compliance monitoring in the Part 21G Production department, from the initial phases of customer input through to the final product to ensure that products and paperwork meet the required high standards;
  • Develop quality tools to support quality control including for example processes flows, verification plans and checklists;
  • Oversee and analyse the production process and work flows to identify any issues arising at an early stage, and to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes;
  • Carrying out routine quality control checks through physical inspections of products and paperwork reviews;
  • Ensure traceability and data records are at the core of the product;
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify corrective and preventative measures to address any process deficiencies or product defects to achieve repeatable high-quality output;
  • Support quality system development and implementation throughout product life cycle;
  • Work with customer communications lead to address any customer concerns;
  • Work with procurement lead to raise any issues over quality of procured parts and materials, or outsourced work;
  • Interact with Quality Manager on quality assurance and internal audit processes.

  • Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work.

Emergency Response 

  • Being prepared to respond in a crisis as an ERP Coordinator representative, maintaining knowledge of the emergency response programme policies, processes and procedures, as defined by the Emergency Response Procedures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control / quality engineering roles in an aviation environment
  • Experience in developing new processes to assist with product validation and quality control
  • Aptitude for analysis, organisation and planning
  • Technical background in manufacturing or quality inspection in a Part 21G or aviation engineering environment


  • Experience working with ISO 9001
  • Experience issuing Form 1s
  • Auditing experience
  • Able to demonstrate excellent commercial awareness
  • Willingness to work out of normal working hours, if required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to work
  • Confident, approachable and enthusiastic
  • Accurate, numerate with excellent attention to detail
  • Team player with the ability to work autonomously 
  • Excellent communication skills
