SAS129 - Training Manager – Company Training and Part 147

Job Purpose

The Company Training Manager is responsible for the delivery of all company training to SAS general personnel and engineering teams including but not limited to safety training, human factors training, H&S training, ISO accreditation requirements and continuation training. This role is also the UK CAA Part-147 nominated person; providing type training to engineering personnel in support of SAS and 3rd Party organisations. This role is not responsible for Pilot Flight Training but will when required support such training in a manner appropriate to the role including but not limited to maintenance training and aircraft familiarisation training.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage the day to day running of the Company Training Programmes and resources;
  • Carry out the duties of an aircraft technical training instructor, qualified on type and within the companies UK CAA and EASA Part-147 approval;
  • To produce and update all student training notes and presentations for the training programmes;
  • Responsible for the evaluation of technical training programmes and company training programmes to ensure they achieve organisational objectives and remain cost effective to deliver;
  • To carry out the annual training planning and produce a training programme for the forthcoming year to meet the engineering and business requirements and the requirements of the Company’s UK CAA and EASA Part 145 approval;
  • Develop and provide a training schedule for relevant Type Rating Licence courses;
  • Assess training needs and source/develop suitable training courses to meet business needs;
  • Seek and engage with potential customers to generate revenue through the delivery of training courses. Assist with the marketing of UK & European Commercial Training, including customer visits and inputs to proposals;
  • Assist with ground study presentation and/ or supervision of pilot trainees, as required;
  • Any other duty deemed appropriate by SAS in the support of Company objectives.

Emergency Response 

  • Being prepared to respond in a crisis as an ERP Coordinator representative, maintaining knowledge of the emergency response programme policies, processes and procedures, as defined by the Emergency Response Procedures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to attain and successfully hold the UK CAA P147 and EASA Part-147 Form 4;
  • Have evidence of previous employment as an aeronautical type training instructor/ manager in a Part-147 environment;
  • To be able to carry out a type rated course on either MD902, AW139 or AW169;
  • Be able to carry out Human factors and Fuel Tank Safety courses;
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of EASA Parts 66/ 145/ 147/ M and 21;
  • Excellent communication; verbal and written communication skills;
  • Adaptable with excellent planning and organisational skills;
  • Ability to cope with pressure and change;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
  • Experience within a customer led aviation environment. 


Desirable

  • Hold an aeronautical/ electrical or mechanical degree
  • Be a certified Part 66 licensed engineer
  • Able to demonstrate excellent commercial awareness
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Willingness to work out of normal working hours, if required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to work
